| DERAPAGE: FRENCH NOUN 1. SKIDMARK 2. SCAR. While reading a review in The New York Times Magazine in late 1996 the review described the musician Beck's work as a derapage of 70's, and 80's music. Meaning containing an assemblage of recognizable bits that fit into a coherent, poetic whole. A skid across eras collecting interesting, but recognizable pieces. The name felt right. Mark Sommerfield has been designing custom furniture since 1987. He has had his own firm since early 1997.
